Prayer Team People who will pray for God’s “Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School without ceasing . Starting now and continuing throughout the entire planning process, during the week it is running and during the follow-up process. This is our driving force for Vacation Bible School and the most vital of all positions available. Commitment to pray now through the end of August 2004. Kim Smith will provide you with a prayer pack and updated prayer request lists if you let her know that you are praying. This year our mission is to ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITH THE LORD’S HELP AND DIRECTION BY HIS HOLY SPIRIT. Co-Director Assistants Anyone of any age who would like to serve our God by helping Kim Smith co-direct “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Areas include praying and listening for God’s voice and direction, stepping out in faith and following God’s lead, encouraging and checking on “God’s Lava Lava Island” staff, having an open heart for God to use and change you how HE would like to. Advertisement / Publicity Person Someone who would like to serve our God by taking care of advertising for “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Ideas, information and resources available if needed. Just see Kim Smith. Registration 5 - 7 people who would like to serve our God by pre-registering kids before hand and registering kids as they come each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Also, to place into groups, as numbers develop. Registration forms already available for pre-registration. Just see Kim Smith. Also to assist in follow up process. Decorations Team Anyone who would like to serve our God and have fun by joining the decorations team by helping or taking care of the decorations for “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Web site and great decorating ideas available. See Kim Smith. May lead in this area or just have hands on help. 5 - 6 people needed. Materials Team Someone who would like to serve our God by sorting and delivering incoming supplies to the needed rooms. Most things will be labeled where to go. T-shirt Iron-on Person Someone who would like to serve our God by applying iron-ons to all the t-shirts for “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible school. 3 - 4 people needed. T-shirt Person Someone who would like to serve our God by finding out workers T-shirt sizes and distributing a prepared T-shirt to them. Also, the distribution of T-shirts to each kid during “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Donation List Person Someone who would like to serve our God by gathering the donation lists from “God’s Lava Lava Island” team leaders, and making one list of items needed for “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School that the congregation can see and respond to. All information will be provided by the team members. Ideas and forms available if needed. Just see Kim Smith. This area needs much prayer. Photographer Someone who would like to serve our God by taking pictures with a regular camera and/or a digital camera throughout “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Instruction will be given for use of digital camera if needed. It’s easy! Video Person Someone who would like to serve our God by running a hand held video camera throughout the week of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Then having the video tape played during the “All Church and Vacation Bible School Picnic” Sunday, August 15th . Also: Someone who would like to create a 2-4 minute video from the video taken during the week to be shown during the following Sunday service. Sound Room Person Someone who would like to serve our God by running the sound room throughout the entire week of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Approx. times: 8:50am - 9:30am and 11:20am - 12:15pm each day. “God’s Lava Lava Island” Crew Leader This position is an extremely important position. It includes the following: Being willing to be used of God as an open vessel, developing relationships with each of your kids in your crew in order to help each child know their need for Jesus Christ as their Savior, praying for them, answering their questions, encouraging their faith, sending out post cards to your kids the week after “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School for follow-up. 30-40 people needed. “Lava Lava Island” Crew Leader Director Someone who would like to serve our God by overseeing and leading “God’s Lava Lava Island” Crew Leaders and working along with registration’s involvement directly to these Crew Leaders. This position would require training and informing God’s Crew Leaders of their expected and important role in “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School both the week of and during the follow up process. Nursery Helpers Anyone who would like to serve our God by playing with and/or baby-sitting kids while their parents are working at “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. The nursery will only be available for Vacation Bible School workers whose kids are too young to participate in “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. (Babies - 2 ½ year olds) Preschool Helpers Anyone who would like to serve our God by helping preschoolers with the following, each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School: Assisting kids to follow the leaders instructions, help with crowd control and maintaining kids attention during rotations. Also to assist in the follow up process. 10 - 12 people needed. Snack Helper Someone who would like to serve our God by helping the snack leader prepare, serve and clean up the “snack of the day” each day during “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Early Babysitter Someone who would like to serve our God by babysitting or leading organized activities for “God’s Lava Lava Island” team’s kids while their parents begin each day with worship and prayer. Beginning times have not been established yet but may begin around 8:00 or 8:15am and finishing up by 9:00am. LEADER POSITIONS Please note that helpers will already be in place to help kids follow the directions you give from the manual. Your job is to teach and lead. Coco’s Preschool Playhouse Leaders 6 people who would like to serve our God by leading the preschoolers at “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School in the following ways:
Someone who would like to serve our God by teaching the Bible “lesson of the day” at “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School through a convincing role, exciting atmosphere with props, hands-on discovery as a learning technique and group discussions. Manual lays out entire week of instructions. The same lesson taught to 4 rotations of kids each day. New Bible lesson is introduced each day. See Kim Smith for supplies available. Jungle Gym Games Leader Someone who would like to serve our God and have fun by leading the “games of the day” each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island ” Vacation Bible School and reinforcing the Bible point for each game. Games listed in games manual for each day. The same game will be taught to 4 separate rotations of kids. Each day new games and bible Point will be introduced. See Kim Smith regarding supply donation. Crater Crafts and Missions Leader Someone who would like to serve our God by teaching kids how to make the Bible point “craft of the day” from the manual and leading them in doing so during “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Also reinforcing the Bible point each day and explaining and encouraging kids to carry out Operation Kid to Kid Missions project. See Kim Smith for supplies available and this years Mission Project. “Chadder’s Island Adventure Theater” Video Tape Leader Someone who would like to serve our God by leading the sessions of “Chadder’s Island Adventure Theater” each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Job includes showing a video followed by a Bible Point group discussion. The same lesson and will be taught to 4 rotations of kids each day. A new lesson and Bible Point will be introduced each day. Tropical Treats Snack Leader Someone who would like to serve our God by leading the Bible point “snack of the day” each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible school. Manual lays out snack, how to prepare and present it and gives instruction for reinforcing and teaching the Bible point each day to the entire group of elementary-age kids during the snack time. Preschoolers to be served separately. See Kim Smith to arrange for supplies needed. Sing & Play Splash Leader Someone who would like to serve our God by leading the entire group of kids in singing with motions to songs from provided CD each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Manual provides all the information you will need and what to say. This position would require you to be comfortable being, singing and talking in front of a large group of kids. Lava Lava Luau Finale Leader Someone who would like to serve our God by performing simple experiments at the end of each day of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School in front of the entire group of kids, involving them as volunteers and in questions asked from the manual. This position would require you to be comfortable being and talking in front of a large group of kids. NOTES TO LEADERS: Manuals are available now for you to use to get a head start on what God wants you to be doing. Just ask Kim Smith for them. Drama People Someone who would like to serve our God by performing skits (from the manual) for the kids during “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. NOTE TO DRAMA PEOPLE: Skits are available now for you to have and rehearse. Just see Kim Smith. Subs / Floaters Extra people who would like to serve our God by being on call to help fill in for last minute issues (ex. sick workers) during “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. We will be considerate to have you fill in the areas you are comfortable filling in. Follow-up Person Someone who would like to serve our God by praying and listening for God with Kim Smith for how it is that He would like us to follow up on “His Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School this year. Also to help with the follow-up process where interested. Please pray for this area!!! This area is just as important as God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School week. Much help and prayer is needed in this area. Thank You Note Person Someone who would like to serve our God by sending out Thank You notes and/or encouragement notes to God’s workers who are helping out and/or who helped out at “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Can be done anytime during or following “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Please pray for this area too. “All Church and Vacation Bible School Picnic” Helpers Anyone who would like to serve our God by helping with the “All Church and Vacation Bible School Picnic” on Sunday, August 15th following the 10:50am service. Planning start time 12:15pm and running until 2:00pm. Anyone willing to help is welcomed. Cheerleaders Anyone who would like to serve our God and share God with others by encouraging God’s workers and spurring them on during “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Also anyone that feels free to send encouragement notes, cards, give a phone call or just hanging around to speak an encouraging word to a worker in need. Our focus is God and a cheerleader would be extremely important to help all of us keep our eyes and minds on God as we stretch ourselves to serve Him in the areas he has assigned us. For the morale and love of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School team a cheerleader of any sort would be so welcomed. Anyway possible and at anytime !!! Clean Up Crew Someone who would like to serve our God by helping with clean-up at the end of “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School each day, where needed. Approx. 12:15pm. 5 - 8 people needed. Last Day Clean Up Crew Anyone who would like to serve our God by helping clean up and tear down on Friday August 13th, 2004 following “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School. Start time around 12:15pm. As many people as available. We really need a lot of help!!! "Ahead of Time Stuff" If you are able to serve our God by helping with prep work before the week “God’s Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School runs please let Kim Smith know. “I’m Available” Position Anyone who would like to serve our God by just being able to say, “I’m available. Where can I help?” Anyone willing is needed. Donating Items A list will be posted at a later date listing items needed. Please keep this area in your prayers. Thanks! Has God put a job for His “Lava Lava Island” Vacation Bible School on your heart and mind that is not listed? PLEASE by all means, follow His leading, approach us and let us know. We are interested in doing God’s will for His Kingdom and if He has something in mind for you, then take those steps and see how brave your heart can be and follow Jesus all the way !!!
